“Yonder Mountain”
Cherokee Legend
The story of Yonder Mountain is a Cherokee legend about leadership, vision and community.
The story begins with a change in seasons and change in leadership. Chief Sky must find a suitable leader for his people as he is nearing the end of his life.
He instructs three young warriors to go to “yonder mountain” and climb to the top to bring back what he finds to the people.
Each warrior has a unique story of his adventure and test for leadership.
The first warrior named Black Bear ascended quickly and came to the middle of the mountain and found crystals to use for trade that would ensure his people will never be hungry.
The second warrior named Gray Wolf climbed the mountain even higher and found herbs, roots and bark for medicine to ensure his people would be never be sick.
The third warrior, Soaring Eagle took much longer than the other warriors. He climbed to the very top of the mountain as instructed by Chief Sky. Finally after six days he returned to the Chief with nothing tangible to give his people.
The only thing he had to give his people was the experience and story he received at the top of the mountain.
Soaring Eagle shared his journey and climb upward to the top of yonder mountain where he gained perspective. Once at the top he could see the smoke signals from a distant mountain of another tribe calling out for help. Passionately, Soaring Eagle rose to his feet and pleaded with Chief Sky with urgency to go and help the people in need.
Chief Sky proclaimed the new chief to be Soaring Eagle. For the true leader is he who climbs the mountain top to see beyond, recognizes the needs of all people and shows compassion to act and extend his community.
Wealth and health are important but “people without vision will perish”! (Proverbs 29:18)
It takes willingness and courage to persevere to the top of the mountain and to come back empty handed with only experience and vision to share.
The empathy the warrior showed for other people evolves the warrior into a leader.

Create
Seed, Time and Harvest: There are many ways we are reminded of the cycle of life and creation. Gardening gives me the chance to witness these components every season. These three aspects can also be a metaphor for thoughts or things we would like to manifest or realize in our lives. What do seeds represent for you in your life right now? Ideas? Thoughts? Friends? Love? Money? What are you planting or creating right now? For after a time and season whatever we think, do and say will spring up either as weeds or flowers in our life. What do you want to harvest?
Integrate
Intentionally Integrateis a page on Heart Path’s website. Solidarity of self, society and spirit are the main concepts. The buzz from“Outliers” by Malcolm Gladwell, regarding mastery is that it takes 10,000 hours to master something. Self mastery is the beginning of empathy. Society is all life, everywhere. Integration with Spirit gives us connection and understanding that we are all one. What are you integrating in your life this season? What would you like to intentionally integrate? Please visit mywebsiteorblogto read more and share your thoughts.
Evolve
Often times when a species evolves there are traits, characteristics or cells discarded because they are no longer needed. Likewise there are mutations and specialization's that occur to give a species an advantage in it’s environment. I recently read a blog about lizards being able to evolve major traits after being placed in a tumultuous environment in just 36 years! If human evolution is capable ofhyper-speedand we are able to choose the traits we want in the future what would you choose? What traits as a species would you let go?
Life Coaching ~ Change = Life
The summer season is on the brink of changing into fall. Change and transitions are synonymous with life. As long as we are living we will experience change. How we adapt to change may very well be a good indicator of our success in life. Life-coaching is a method to support people through transitions and changes in life to ensure success. What are the changes in your life where you could use some coaching tools and support?
Community~ The Nurse Log
Nurse logs are an amazing representation of the cycle of life and interdependence. Hiking through the dense forrest doesn’t take long to become mesmerized by fallen logs that have become eco-villages that support a vast number of species thriving. In fact, more cells are growing on a down and supposedly “dead” nurse log than when the tree was actually “alive”. Living and supporting community is one way to create interdependence. Leaving a legacy for continued growth of community is classified as unique, special. Nurse logs give us the model for how to nourish community. How can you use biomimicry to imitate this fine example of mutualism in community?
Well Being~ Change Now Age Less
Health Care is a personal responsibility. For most the goal is to avoid the mechanistic medical machine as long as possible. This means to limit the need for pharmaceuticals and procedures. Most people believe this is the natural aging process. This is not true! We can start today and make changes to our diet, exercise, stress management to stay off drugs and keep ourselves healthy and well. Here are a few suggestions: Eat less meat, dairy and eggs. Also, if you are not on medication, add as many leafy greens, fruits and veggies to your diet as possible. However, if you are already on some sort of medication be sure to find out all the food and herbs that are contraindicated and also helpful. Most doctors are quick to tell patients what to not eat but rarely tell patients what to add in place of foods taken out of their diet. The following recipe is a good choice for people who are on Warfin or any other blood thinner and have to restrict their vitamin K consumption. Be sure to check with your doctor or do your own research to ensure this will work for you.
